I’m going to break down the question of how long does SEO take to work for a new website.
It used to be comfortable following a specific formula for getting you to the top of page one. In many cases, you used to be able to get to page one at the very top in just a few months and maybe even six months at the latest for a profitable term, those would be terms related to anything that pays, but in today’s world, SEO is super competitive.
There are billions of websites on the internet now. Everyone is lobbying for a profitable position and trying to get as much visibility as possible. So when you combine all of that, it’s no doubt why Search Engine Optimization is so hard, Google has it’s pick for the very best of the best to place at the top. You have no choice but to bring your “A” game when ranking your customer’s websites.
A decade ago, the lack of content allowed the website or blog owner a favorable position compared to today. Google has the upper hand, and it has the pick of the litter, so to speak. This is where the challenge comes in. This makes the SEO game critical. Much has changed over the years, let’s take a look at what’s going on.
This is one of the most significant areas. It wasn’t nearly as out of the market, as it used to be. The number of websites created daily is staggering. I seriously doubt any true and accurate numbers can depict it. However, there are over 1.7 billion websites online. That’s a lot of competition. They used to be that you can focus on five or six keywords, maybe even 10.
The keywords for all these websites are what delivers the traffic to your site. SEO and companies that traded in traffic used to be able to serve up those visitors based on keywords. The reality now is it’s a lot of different websites, and you must have an accurate and investigated list of 10 to 75 keywords or more depending on the site. And at the bare minimum, each page on your website is going to need to be targeted at least one keyword. However, in most cases, actually four keywords per page. Now the next thing that changed is content. It used to be that you can write an article and implement the keyword, a fair number of times. And Google automatically will rank you, AKA keyword density, right? The more you put a keyword on your page, the more they know about those pages around that topic. And then you rank now that doesn’t necessarily flow naturally. And it didn’t work well for users.
Keyword density is just not looked at the same moving forward by the algorithm. Google algorithm has significantly increased in intelligence, and they’ve changed our outlook. They’re not just looking at keywords that the user is shoving into the site and stuffing it, and ruining the searcher’s experience, they’re looking at quality. They made some significant changes that will not rank content that has no quality on a high level. This is a game-changer for the lazy blogger. It’s not just about putting the keyword in there. It will be in there naturally, and besides, so will other synonyms, which Google can tell because think of them as a big dictionary and thesaurus. The algorithm will know what the content and theme of the article are just by reading it. The priority is to deliver quality, all the while keeping the searcher in mind as they make their query. Remember when someone types in a search query or you use a question, right?
You have to keep in mind that when people make a query on Google, they have a question that needs to be answered, and they want it now. Google thrives on being able to answer those questions quickly, and if your content serves up the answer in a professional manner with good quality content, then you’re in there with no problem. It’s not about word count. It’s all about providing an answer for the end using an engaging piece of content that provides the answers quickly and on a professional level.
That’s the million-dollar question. It truly depends on a ton of factors. According to an SEO article in Forbes, the average it takes for a new site is four to six months to start seeing some traction in the SERPs; however, there is no definitive answer because there are so many factors in SEO. Every industry is different, as well. It’s easier to rank for a plumber in a localized city than it is to reach for auto insurance naturally.
On average, based on my experience, even if you’re starting a new website and you’re actively working on your content on-page SEO and link building, it can take roughly six months before you start seeing results. It doesn’t mean at six months; you’re going to rank at the top and get what you want. But it usually takes six months to start seeing traction. And the best way to start seeing the traction faster is going after long-tail phrases, which convert better than head terms.
So if you want to rank faster and there are some important SEO factors that you need to know, if you want to rank, the first thing that we should look at is your site and is it a secure and accessible to Google color or using HTTPS causes your robots htc blocking the right pages. If it’s fast, not only will it boost your rankings because that’s a part of their algorithm and you’ve used Google page speed to see how fast your website loads, both the mobile and desktop devices will tell you what to fix as well. But mobile speed time and load speed time also affect conversions as well.
The other thing that you need to look at is, is your site mobile friendly? Did you know that over half of the searches on Google are done by mobile devices? If your website doesn’t look nice on a mobile device, like an iPhone or Android device, don’t expect them to rank it high up. The other thing you have to look at is, do you have authoritative content? If you just have me too content, won’t cut it. Google doesn’t want the same regurgitated content over and over again. They want you to provide something that’s unique that people have read before every time blog on something new we see on average 52.4% more traffic than when we blog on something that’s been regurgitated and is old. So, in other words, try to blog on something that’s new that people haven’t seen before. I know it’s frustrating, but the world has changed.
And yes, there still is new stuff that people are learning about. Not everything has been written, even though there are over a billion blogs on the web. Another thing you need to look at is all the backlinks. Getting links from authoritative sites is one thing, but those sites aren’t related, you’re not going to do as well. Are you creating amazing enough content to attract the right type of links? Are you creating an amazing product and service to get more links?
I want you to look at social signals, even though social signalsSocial Media Marketing Services do not affect ranking, according to Google. There is a correlation between pages that rank high and have a decent number of social signals. Remember, Google wants to rank pages at the top that people love. So if people love a page, they’re more likely to link to it. They’re more likely to share it on the social web. They wouldn’t just say, Hey, I’m going to link to it, but I would never share it. They go hand in hand.
The other thing that you need to look at is, do you have your business information listed, especially for your local business? You need to claim your Google my business profile. You need Yelp reviews. Google reviews have a good Better Business Bureau page. The more reviews you can attract, the better off you are.
The big takeaway is when you do the right things and go above and beyond to put the user first; you’re going to rank faster.
